The Kokwet washing station is part of the Kamiwa FCS Co-op,
This society is located in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley region which is one of the key wonders of the world. Many new coffee farms are coming up in this region and Kokwet station works with many of the local smallholder farmers.
The coffee is grown in rich volcanic soil, then wet-processed, where the fully ripe cherries are pulped, fermented and washed.
The coffee is dried slowly on raised beds over 2- 3 weeks (depending on the weather), where the moisture content is reduced to 10-12%.
