Zambia Kateshi - Anaerobic Natural
First founded in 1972 close to Kateshi Village, the Kateshi Coffee Estate was, and still is, one of the first coffee estates in Zambia. Originally known for its wet processing facilities, the estate was the heart and soul of coffee production in northern Zambia and was used as the central processing mill for the entire region. Their love and care has won them many accolades from Zambia's annual Taste of Harvest competition and we're honoured to bring this stunning bean to you.
Kateshi has been recognized for boldly challenging gender stereotypes in Zambia, being the first and only coffee estate to employ women for traditionally male-dominated roles such as driving tractors, bull-dozers and road graders. Oh, and they also sponsor a football team, the Kateshi Coffee Bullets who compete in the Zambian 1st Division which is pretty badass if you ask us.
Zambia Kateshi - Process and Harvest
The best cherries are carefully selected using a double handpicking method to ensure the quality is to the highest standard. This is followed by floatation to remove low-density cherries that could effect the final flavour profile. These cherries are then fermented in sealed tanks for 24 hours before being dried on raised beds. The cherries are spread across the beds in thin layers (2 cherries deep) to ensure even drying, and regularly turned over a period of 3 to 4 weeks. This even drying ensures each bean is given the chance to shine and bring out the best big fruity notes this coffee is known for.
Chipp Coffee Co - Roastery Update
This month has been a great one! The sun is out and shining through the roastery doors and the beans are flowing. If you follow us on social media you'll have seen the our content has been elevated and become more consistent. That's due to our lovely new hire Moll who is now creating all our social content. She's pretty great at what she does and we're super happy to have her aboard.
The Finca Las Flores Geisha has been flying out the door so it won't be long until that's gone for good. But, because we're such lovely people, we've brought you a second Geisha to tantalise the tastebuds. If you've been in the cool kids club a while you'll remember our Marisela Sanchez Geisha from last November; well she's back and bringing the same amazing delicate and stunning flavours but now it's for everyone to enjoy!
What We're Listening To

This month we've been listening to a lot of Spanish metal because you know.... why would we not be. One band in particular has really stood out to us; Ladrones. Mixing elements of rap, punk, metal and djent, these guys keep dropping banger after banger. If you're in the mood to be angry in Spanish we recommend checking out No Mi Importa, Así Cambió la Cosa or Siempre Vuelve. Turn it up to 11 and get your groove one!
