Uganda Rwenzori - Natural Process
July has rolled around once again and it feels like only a couple of minutes ago that we were screaming from the rooftops about the incredible Rwenzori being back with us but here we are 12 months later and bringing it back for another season! We keep bringing this one back for a reason and if you missed it the last few times we've included it in our ranks you'd be a fool, A FOOL I SAY, to not get your hands on it in 2025.
Uganda Rwenzori - Process and Harvest
The gents at AGRI EVOLVE are at it again bringing us a show stopping coffee while also doing wonderful work for their farmers and community. The company has built up an insane network of 20,000 registered smallholder farmers with a dedicated full time staff of 80 team members which has made them the largest employer in the region! They work with the farmers in this amazing region on a daily, face-to-face basis to build strong connections, engage with local communities, improve rural livelihoods and support efficient supply chains.
This wonderful bean begins its journey between the months of March and May, when hundreds of smallholder farmers bring their cherries to an Agri Evolve buying station where they are paid more than a fair price to ensure they can keep producing top notch beans. All these deliveries are transported to a central washing station for processing.
To make one of our favourite cups that we can't get enough of year after year, the defective cherries were removed using float tanks, then dried on raised beds for a whole two weeks to soak up that beautiful Rwenzori Mountain sun.
If you've been watching our 'Secrets of a Coffee Roaster' series on Instagram you'll have heard the term terroir. In basic terms it's the environment the coffee is grown in ranging from the air around the trees to the soil they're planted in and the sun shining down on them. This makes this Rwenzori coffee truly special as it's specific terroir can't be replicated anywhere in the world so if you want a taste of one of the most beautiful and majestic regions on the planet then you need to get a box of this before it's gone for another year.
Chipp Coffee Co. Roastery Update.
BIG EXCITING NEWS! We're expanding! We've just purchased another space so we can bring you more coffee than ever! We're planning on roasting higher volumes, spreading our Chipp beans further than ever before, offering more people focussed services, workshops, machine sales, you name it we're gonna be bloody doing it! It's still early doors so we'll provide more info when we have it but for now keep an eye out for exciting changes coming over the rest of the year.
What We're Listening To

This month we've been listening to feel good summer rock jams but the band BILMURI have stood out to us. Infusing country, pop punk and hard rock with some absolutely slapping sax riffs you can't really go wrong. These guys are super fun live and they're playing the Saturday at Leeds fest so make sure you check them out. If you want some great tracks to get you started we recommend BETTER HELL, BLINDSIDED, EMPTYHANDED and ALL GAS. Great riffs with catchy as hell lyrics rounded up with a good bit of fun!
